My first race was 'Nord': a female Nord, to be more precise. Nords are tall and strong, so they are probably the best race for who likes to play pure fighters charachters, together with Orcs; also, i have a special love for the Bloodmoon expansion and the province of Skyrim (... differently, why should i run a forum called "The Chieftain's Chambers" ), so 'Nord' was indeed an obvious choice for me. Other details later... What was your first race, and why?

I originally chose a male Dark Elf custom class (variant fighter-mage), mainly because I wanted to choose a balanced selection of skills and that Dunmer are of course the main MW race.

My very first one was a female Nord since I'm of Nordic decent in real life. She didn't last very long. Shortly after she finally made it to Balmora, I started over as a Bosmer and found that it suited me better.

I like Bretons though they are kind of short and have weird voices. Their magic ability is pretty good.

My first race was female Imperial - a monk I believe. It was a lot of fun but I made so many mistakes.

My first character was a male Imperial, and beeing quite unaware of the Elder Scrolls background even if I spend a little time years ago on Daggerfall, I too made a lot of mistakes.
In fact I still use that character from time to time.
I took an Imperial because I liked their description and because they looked like quite decent to me (what beastmen, Orcs or Bosmer obviously weren't*)... and not too specific like Altmer or Bretons.
*I revised my judgement later, don't worry. ;D

I guess I could post it here as well. Tennisbollen was very impatient at the time when he got the game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. He had no role-playing experience from before, he had played Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past on his parents Super Nintendo Entertainment System, but that was it. He started the game, eager to see what he thought was going to be a rather good game. Clicked "New Game", and impatient as he was, he clicked through the intro video. "Wake up, you were dreaming. I heard them say we reached Morrowind, I'm sure they'll let us go. What's your name?" the Dark Elf beside him said, Tennisbollen jumped in fear when he for the first time saw a Dunmer. He named the character "Jonatan" which happen to be his real name. He followed the rude guard out of the ship. When he was going to choose race, he picked the one he thought looked most as himself (which as a matter of fact should have been the Nord) the Imperial. Got in to the office, answered the question and became a warrior of some sort. He didn't really bother to choose birthsign carefully, the rumors say that he picked The Warrior. Tennisbollen took the papers and ran further, passed all items in the room and ignored that it said he should pick up the dagger on the table. Got in to the Captain, Sellus Gravius' office where he did not read what he said, just took the paper, the package and the money, ignorant of the quest he had been given. He went out to the picturesque coastal town Seyda Neen, didn't bother to stay and ran off, in to the dangerous wilderness of the Bitter Coast region and the Ascadian Isles. Soon it was dark outside and it started to rain. Anxious to get inside he ran deeper into the Ascadian Isles looking for a town where he could stay untill the rain ceased. Then the lightnings destroyed the calm impression Tennisbollen had, he was now frightened. He ran and ran, when he saw the city of Vivec for the first time. He entered the Foreing Quarters canton of the enormous city. Still shivering of fear from the thunder he almost cried when he saw all Dark Elves speaking to him and looking at him with their scary, red eyes. And then the Ordinators with their golden masks telling him that they were watching him. He tried to escape from this nightmare, to get out of the city. In that moment he felt that he rather was avoiding the lightnings in the rain outside than stayed and talked with the natives of this horrible island of Vvardenfell. But he could not get out, Vivec was like a maze, he just couldn't get out of that enormous... house-thing. Then he gave up and shut down his computer to not play Morrowind in a month. - Tennisbollen

Thanks: The sad thing is that it is all more or less true. It took me about 3-5 new characters before understanding what I was supposed to do. - Tennisbollen
