What's your favourite weapon ever? Discussions about weapons from mods are accepted too, of course... About me. Well, since my first character was a proud nord, i've started my first Morrowind fights with the classing nord waraxe from the vanilla game (it's the Eddwild weapon, for who don't know it); the perfect axe for a newbie nord, but pretty boring for a growed up character, so i've replaced it soon with more powerful models, which were more pleasant to the eyes; my favourite of course the Daedric, which i found for the first time in an housemod called "Necrom" (yes, like a city from the Morrowind original lore); i never tried the cloudcleaver, because i left it to its original owner. Hey, i'm not a criinal! My characters always fight for a good cause. Pretty powerful i found the orcish waraxe, and the ebony axe; even if only the seconf looks really good to me. And i've never used any steel or iron axe, like the ones that you can buy from Arrille's, their look really sucks to me, i found them really ugly! So, my favourite type of axe is definitely the two handed: more slowly than a one - hand, but of course more powerful and heavy. Bloodmoon axes are great: huges and with a very good look, they are the definitive weapon for who lives in the far north. Raising levels and stats i practiced a little more sword: as usual i still don't like swords who come from he vanilla game, my favourites are the ones who comes from mods... I hate oversized (cheating) swords. "Faith and Valour" by Mantodea and the Blue Ymsidril Scimitar by VA are my favourite; Aleanne is actually using an Ymsidril and love it at all! But also Oriphier done a really great job retexturing the "famous" Umbra's Sword, so it's one of my weapons too. What about you? Which weapon do you love? Have you tried some peculiar (modded) model and now you don't want to left it? Post, post, post!

Those with knowledge of Tolkien lore may have already guess that my favourite weapon is the sword.
Mormegil, or "Black Blade" was Turin Turabar's intelligent sword (From Tolkien's Silmarillion).
My favourite blade from Morrowind is Goldbrand, a sword I always hunt as early as possible. Unfortunately, I never upgrade it to the famous (or infamous) Eltonbrand, as I never play as a vampire.
From mods, I, too, like VA's swords, especially the Elven and Hissyo katana. I personaly prefer Longswords over Katanas but VA's katanas are so perfectly made to pass.

I love Vagabond Angel's Scimitars too... I have all of them installed at the moment! Most of them (if not all) comes with a little script or a small quest attached, and that's better for me: usually, weapons who comes with mods have a really high value, so i prefer to get it after a fight or after solved a quest... To avoid becoming rich too soon, since i assume that as a cheat. Fun are the two VA's mods who puts two pair of scripted scimitar one time in a daedric shrine and the other time in a misplaced ancestral tomb in the Azura's Coast Region; personally i haven't read the readme carefully, so i have forgotten the right location and i can wait for a pair of ... brrr... unexpected surprises during my Morrowind travels. Let the haunt begins!!! I have only one VA's mod to install yet... The one who create a dungeon (if i have understood well) near the Ghostgate, with a new NPC inside probably to defeath to obtain his armor and weapons; this mod comes with its personal soundtrack too, a string concert by Vivaldi; have you tried it? Is a good mod? Well, apart the rewards (which i bet will be excellent), is this fighting fun and with new interesting features?

Katana. I'm partial to long blades and I love how katanas look.

@ Osiris: I have played the mod you are talking about and I think you will like it. It offers a full set of armour and a sword (scimitar I think). These are not easily obtainable, if I am not mistaken, you will have to find an NPC in a nearby mine and fight a ghost (it's been some time, sorry). I agree that having to fight for your new weapon/armour/whatever is more rewarding than a simple "the new uber-sword is in the Cencus and Excise office in Seyda Neen".
@ Denina: I used to avoid katanas because they were too exotic for me. But lately I start to like them, although Longswords remain my favourite (the typical knight's weapon from medieval fantasy).

@ Osiris: I have played the mod you are talking about and I think you will like it. And what about the FPS? I bet VA's textures are quite large, plus he talk about some not better identified "graphic improvements" in the readme... If i remember well, the mod contains some artwork by Phiijama, and usually he makes hi - res textures. Well, i'm only a little feared about that; for the rest, to include a classical music soundtrack in the mod (vivaldi, if my memory don't fail!) sounds really really nice.

To tell the truth, my machine at that time was so slow, I had low FPS everywhere...
I haven't played the mod after I bought the new one... Maybe in a few days, after my current character gain some levels...

Dwarven crossbow. My char is a stealthy, highly agile breton, who likes to sneak in unseen and unheard on bare feet to soften up his enemies from a distance. For this he had his old assassins armor for a long time, until he got a nice, full set of stalhrim armor in Solstheim.
Greetings, Mewgull

Without doubt, the weapon my main character (a Crusader) used the more is the Ice Blade of the Monarch. Buthe tends to use a dwarven crossbow (as mewgull's character do), to convince people to come at range of his enchanted longsword. On the other hand, when I play with the French version of Morrowind, with the excellent mod Nova Magica, I nearly never use a weapon, as my enchanter rely on magica and summoned creatures. When she had no other choice, she summons a Bound Dagger.

Talking about FPS, my old machine was badly in need of a replacement and could only manage -2 to +5 FPS in any of Mournhold Expanded!

katana or longsword, pretty much anything with a decent sized straight, or slighlty curved edge, and can be wielded with a shield i mostly use a personalized weapon tho: a one-handed daedric claymore same stats as the original, just it is a one handed sword instead of two handed

Personally, I favour the spear as the ultimate weapon; this opinion is based on the fact that spears and spear derivatives have had the most profound effect on warfare througout history untill the emergence of efficient firearms.
Unfortunately, the more personal, single combat of Morrowind favours more the warrior than the soldier, and so a weapon like a long sword, mace or axe are usually most effective. Spears in morrowind are severely limited in use, as they are only two handed and have only one effective type of strike (thrusting), which makes using them profoundly uninteresting.
So... after all that, I must say that I fit in among the great throng of longsword users out there; A single-handed, single-edged saber or scimitar is my melee weapon of choice, coupled with a shield. As for ranged combat, I use a crossbow. While crossbows are a nightmare to aim (unless you cheat witha crosshair...), they are useful for quickly felling enemies at medium-close range, since no time is taken in getting the full damage potential out of them.
