Intrepid, I haven't read thru this whole thread - but I'm playing without the expansion atm. (My son borrowed the disc and hasn't returned it. Do you need it to install your Suran home? Also would your mod conflict with Cragonmoor - I have installed that as one of the few mods that doesn't require Tribunal or Bloodmoon. ~m ps. None of your above links works on my comp - could it be a difference in US servers?

I tested the mod on a plain vanilla Morrowind setup (no expansions installed). I got a popup error when I entered the Home the first time about a function call in a script, saying that if you choose to continue then the guar's script is disabled. No other harm was done, and the guar still functioned as a basic Morrowind companion. The topics still work, you can still order him around, he'll still follow, wait, wander, etc. He should still behave normally. It's just that the script itself -- which enhances speed, warping, things like that -- won't actually be running. In that case, he'll be like any vanilla Morrowind companion who can possibly get stuck on obstacles and so forth. Reading the description, it looks like Cragonmoor is "set into the mountainside, close to (but high above), the Strider, overlooking Suran". But this Home mod is actually across the stream from the siltstrider -- doesn't sound like any conflict at all. I cannot imagine why the links don't work for you? Try the Source page instead: tessource.net/files/file.php?id=9483

It's just that the script itself -- which enhances speed, warping, things like that -- won't actually be running. That is the reason why i suggested you to use Vorwoda's companion script instead of Grumpy's...It is built on Tribunal, so if used on a vanilla Morrowind, it will produce errors. We don't have nothing against Grumpy's excellent work of course; but we mod, so we know that John's (Vorwoda's) template is actually the best solution to create advanced Vanilla Morrowind companions. Oh and don't worry, they will not get stuck on obstacles, as the script is designed to avoid such problems. Just please don't point out again that Tribunal can be purchased on eBay (i'm not looking at anyone, telling this) or that everyone owns the expansion packs, since when i have opened this forum i decided to promote... let's say... more original statements here. Thank you! Back on topic... Ok, as Meadowfae i still haven't read all the new posts here, but i'm very very glad for this release, Intrepidacious. Oh, and it will not conflict with Cragonmoor in anyway, so go ahead and play Intrepid's beautiful home, fae!

And I appreciated the suggestion but:
1. This was my first companion and when I started -- before your excellent suggestion -- I felt that having an example packguar companion mod was probably a good way to go. 2. I already had Grumpy's topics and script in the mod when you made your suggestion, and didn't want to clean it of all of those pieces and start over without a pressing reason to do so. 3. A plain Morrowind version of this Home 4.0 can be easily made by simply commenting the warping portion of the script and submitting the file as a MW-only version. 4. The warping features seem a worthwhile bonus and will be nice for the players who do have one of the expansions. Without warping, companions get stuck. With the companion warping you can even TCL up over or through a mountain and the guar will be right behind you all the way. Nothing's foolproof, but the warping sure helps.
I specifically mention that this version of the mod needs at least one of the expansions, so there shouldn't be any confusion with players. I'll add a MW-only version to the same download page.

Btw, I'm not a fan of the succubus tapestry (it's in Vibrant MW too...sigh) Is there an easy way to get rid of it or replace it? I tried the CS before but somehow couldn't quite get it to replace permanently. (techno-clutz fae does it again, lol.) Thanks. ~m

Is that the tapestry beside the fireplace in the diningroom? I always wondered about that one, never was a big fan of it either. I should have thought about that while I was updating that mod.
You could just remove the tapestry in the CS and copy-paste another tapestry from another room, or put some ivy on the wall, or a large urn or something?

I've already done that but for some reason it doesn't save properly. But I'll try again. When at first you don't succeed... Actually I wanted to make some tapestries of my MW screenies to put in various homes I frequent. I think it's not that hard...just have to learn to navigate the CS better. ~m PS. Didn't see it in the dining room - but here: tessource.net/files/image.php?id=21886I really do like the look of your home, btw.

I've heard of people using existing images and putting them on tapestries. I guess they convert jpg files to DDS files?
Yes, that's the one -- there's one in the diningroom as well, I'm pretty sure. So I guess you and I must be using the same texture replacer, then.
Hmmm, I wonder if you find that tapestry in the CS, then doubleclick on it to see what texture it uses, then just replace that single textuer file from a different texture replacer set?

Don't worry Intrepid, we appreciate your house for sure! I Hope that many will download your excellent mod, too (hopefully, not just the many lurkers that i have here...). Meadowfae: Intrepid's suggestion was good, sounds strange that you can't get rid of the tapesty... Simply select it, press the 'DEL' key, then save. Just be careful, load this one alongside the mod, or it will become dirty when saving. Or, better, delete the tapestry ID with TESAME.

Ok sounds good to me, Osiris. Thanks. Don't know how to use Wrye or TESAME - need to take time and read a tutorial on those...since I'm not a modder and my son, the modder, is not available atm. As always, any suggestions or links will be appreciated, Os. I learn best by visual - rather than just reading, btw. Yes, Intrepid, I want to try your home - that's why I'm asking about all this. It looks very interesting. Otherwise - I will take an invisibility potion and go back to lurking and just posting screenies, lol. ~m

If you'd PM me your email address I'll just send you the mod with any examples of that tapestry swapped out for another tapestry?

Don't know how to use Wrye or TESAME - need to take time and read a tutorial on those... Oh, you won't need it. GMST vaccine is just a plugin, and with TESAME... simply launch it, load a mod, click on the item that you want to delete, press the spacebar, then select "delete selected items", and save. And you will get rid of whatever you want! ;D

(j/k) Otherwise, TESAME sounds pretty simple - thanks much - I will try it for sure because I would like to customize my game! ~m If you'd PM me your email address I'll just send you the mod with any examples of that tapestry swapped out for another tapestry? I don't know the exact phrase for GMST, but GMSTs are game settings. For example, the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions add more and different game settings than original Morrowind, so when you make a mod, but don't clean it of the GMSTs changed by the expansions you can really mess your Morrowind game up, which is why it's important to clean mods before using them - and now, since so many people are aware of them, they clean them before uploading them for others to use. Sometimes, mod makers have to change GMSTs in order to make their mods work. This is fine, as long as you don't have a mod that changes them. Since GMSTs aren't often changed (unless it's a mod that affects normal game play, such as Galsiah's Character Development), it's not usually something to worry about. I voted for your house mod at PES, Intrepidacious. I had a blast running through it.

Sorry for bothering you guys, but in forums sometimes the "edit" button is better than doubleposting... Thanks Denina for the explanation, very useful as usual; glad to know that you liked Intrepid's mod - it is really one of the best housemods for Suran, and here we like very much his way of building. So the mod is uploaded at PES as well? I need to rate it soon! Ok, stop flattering now... Just playin'. ;D
