Inspired by a similar thread at ESF... Can you enjoy vanilla Morrowind? I will vote "Yes", for this reason: even if many of the mods out there are really wonderful and enrich our favourite game in an amazing way, TES III is so big that can be enjoyed even in vanilla flavour, at least for one time (maybe, just with Better Heads and Better Bodies, as the default Bethesda's models were really ugly... Too ugly). First of all, this game comes with a great story, so it isn't bad at all even without one single major or minor mod. That's my short opinion; the full one will pop up in here soon, as long as you will reply in great numbers. Then, what do you choose? Yes or No?

im sorry but i gotta say no on this one
i tried going back to vanilla and almost had a nervous breakdown i run MW with a minimum of 50 mods but average at about 100 whereas i run only 3 or 4 mods for oblivion
better bodies is a must, as well as dozens of it dependents along with several weapons mods, specifically those by vagabond angel, his mods are simply awesome
the rest are a fine picked selection that fit my personal tastes, including race mods and several personal tweaks

I voted "no" because I hardly ever played without mods. My very first mod - before Better Bodies, Better Heads, Robereplacer, Hair- and Facepacks, Divine Domina, PartnerMod, MCA, new races... - was a small house in Balmora, nothing special, but I remember it well. Now I have (beside the ones I mentioned before) castles and residences everywhere, wonderful companion-mods, weather-amulets, peace-mods, tame animals - and many new adventures (quest-mods). That's why Morrowind will never end.

I would not at all mind playing Morrowind without mods -- except that I must have a mod to improve bodies, at minimum, and preferably a better assortment of heads/faces. The originals are just too unattractive by comparison with the modded versions.
[edit] And a good texture replacer can really brighten and beautify Morrowind.

I must vote yes... At first glance, I would say no, and, having played with mods, I don't think I could enjoy unmodded Morowind. But, then I remember playing Morrowind before I even knew about mods, and in some strange ways, I enjoyed some aspects of it even more back then. Hell, I didn't even realise how bad the character meshes and textures were!
However, when it comes down to it, mods still make Morrowind the game it is, and without them, it's not a fraction as great as it can be.

Hi aidan - nice to see you here. Yes, I agree with you - I remember playing for 5 months w/o any mods and finishing the MQ and most of the side quests! Had a great time with it! Then my son (an MIP) turned me onto mods and the rest is history. Recently, I played vanilla MW for a month after my XP crashed. It was fun - but I missed my mods tremendously. I'm a bit MW deprived since 'someone' in my family borrowed my GOTY expansion disc - which really limits the mods that I can install. However, that's probably for the best since RL is very very busy, atm. Anyway, I vote YES - if you've never played with mods...and NO if you have. Because once you go to modded MW, you can [almost] never go back.... and be happy about it. Just my dos centavos. ~m [edit] On the poll, just had to say 'no.' (snif... fae misses her flying unicorn....her boyfriend, Indiana...her rose cottage...her castle in Solstheim...her Peligiad farmette...her wonderful clothiers...the TB/BM quests...etc. etc. )

Well, I voted yes, simply because I'm happy to play MW on the Xbox. I would probably still vote yes if BH/BB was allowed, simply because they make such a vast improvement. I would definitely still say yes if texture replacers (only) were allowed.

You stole my thread! I can enjoy it without mods, yes, a purer enjoyment than what I get from mods

I'm sorry to say it, but I voted no. Although Morrowind is the most wonderful RPG I've ever played, I couldn't get into it because my character and the NPCs looked so strange. I at least need to have Better Bodies and Better Heads installed.
