A generic thread title just to point that this is a generic Morrowind thread, so he belongs to the Imperial Fort instead of to The Magic Village... Because osiris said so! Just to know if you are so able to end Morrowind (and maybe both the expansion) with the only help of your spells, my dear Altmer / Breton or whatever Mage PC type character do you play (or did you have played). Me, not. I'm absolutely not able to end the game with the only help of the spells... because i hate the control keys who comes with the default installation, and even setting up new hotkeys the results don't changes a lot. Then, it's a pain. At least for me... but for you, my dear Morrowind players?

i tried it once, used a breton used spells about 75% of the time and maybe a dagger or longsword when mana ran low not much armor at all, if any, only robes or modded clothes finished it fine, ut i had to used weapons along the way, but not too much

Gunther, that is really amazing to know, because i always experience many and many troubles in managing a pure mage charachter (due to the tricky default keys installed by Morrowind, as i probably said before... Definitely, they aren't the best). So how did you played your mage PC? Did you have changed the default keys in some way, and maybe you'll share with us your secrets? That would be interesting to know and, oh, probably a very good idea for a "Morrowind keys - hint" ( "How to play a pure mage PC" or such), so feel free to start your hint thread if you want... But first, please tell me about your mage, as i'm a very curious guy as usual!

well i only changed two keys (i think), swapped them actually they were the prepare magicka (equivalent of draw weapon) and the rest key so i could hit the key quicker
i used the quick keys 1 - 7 for spells, used 8 for a lockpick, 9 for a probe, and 0 for hand to hand and rarely changed my weapon so i didn't need to use any quick keys for weapons
i used a lot of personally made fire and poison spells and made my own restore health, magicka, and attribute potions (usually crried around 200 pounds of potions at any given moment)
i got my unarmed skill up to 100 so i never needed armor, i used robes or modded clothes
for a weapon choice i used either a short or long sword, enchanted, and rarely used it first, i would just bombard my opponent with spells and then if my magicka ran out, i would either restore it or first them off with my sword
i really didn't have any fancy tehniques, i just used brute force (if that makes any sense?)
i also did NOT start my character as a pure mage, but that was my intention the entire game, i was working to that point where i could be, because starting as a pure mage is, i found it to be, EXTREMELY hard
i started as a battlemage/spellsword type (custom class, of course)
for level increases i would increase strength, endurance and intellegence or willpower (i would alternate the last two), and then once those got 100 i would work on the others
i worked on strength so as i started i could bea decent melee fighter in the beginning, and so later in the game i could carry all my stuff
i worked on endurance to increase my health
i worked on intellegence to increase my total magicka
i worked on willpower to increase my fatigue, and effectveness of speels and resistence to magicka
if i remember any more, i'll post it here, but that is just a quick overveiw of tips for making an almost pure mage char

I almost always use weapons but -- funny thing here -- I was always always upgrading intelligence and willpower and buying every spell I could find! Very silly, I guess -- just wanted to be able to cast a spell now and then, not be unable to! But then I was also always collecting things for alchemy and never getting around to actually doing any alchemy.
