Hello,
There is something I have noticed while browsing the Official Elder Scrolls Forums...And that thing is, that everyone, Oblivion converts or old veterans seem to have some sort of problem using a bow at early levels...Why exactly is this? I mean, the only problem I EVER ran into, was running out of arrows, and I usually only do that when I decide to kill every non-man(as in the species) or non-mer being in my path...
So just for the heck of it, a simply guide to proper marksmanship: Be sure to have your stamina level at max, go into sneak mode*, launch an arrow while having the fact that the arrow moves slightly downward from where you aim in mind, and BOOM, critical hit...The critical hit SHOULD take away a good chunk of the HP of the hostile creature, or in most cases, if it is a standard Vvardenfellian animal, it should die in one hit
*If you use the marksman skill, then some level of stealth is always good to have, be aware of your surrounding when exploring, especially inside dungeons...

Thanks for the suggestions for a more rewarding fighting experience, Xeth, much appreciated as usual. Due to my tastes and attitudes I usually prefer to play melee fighters, thus much of my characters prefers to use swords or axes or such instead of weapons for a ranged attack; however, why shouldn't I try an hero able with a mix of ranged and melee? That's exactly what I would to try in a future; then, again, thanks for the input.
However, being not much expert in weapons' behaviour, and as I said not much expert in marksmanship as well, I really can't comment on low level characters being able to rage a critical damage with a bow: so it's really the combination you described, that allow this to the character? Or maybe something other?

Mixing ranged and melee is what most people does, but limiting yourself to one way of killing tend to add a certain challenge, IMO.
Well, when I play a ranged character, I usually tend to proceed with caution, and I have so far always been able to get critical hits early in the game...Just spot the enemy before it spots you, preferably when you are quite some distance away...And a critical hit should be relatively easy.

Mixing ranged and melee is what most people does, but limiting yourself to one way of killing tend to add a certain challenge, IMO. That's right; infact I like challenges! I've just completed the testing for a Telvannis quest involving the Daedric Ruin of Yashzamus, and I was really surprised discovering how much the creatures are tougher and hard to beat there (and maybe even well scripted!). Though you're right when you say a continue use of melee may be boring at a point; As said before, I'll think about a mix of melee and ranged a bit more soon. However, you haven't clearly replied to my question (or maybe I just haven't understood well): what you described came from some 'hidden' Morrowind characteristics, or it's just a 'power' of the ranged attack?

Oh the critical hit thing? Well, you see, Morrowind DOES infact have a critical hit feature, it's just that the sneak skill in MW is near impossible to use properly, and thus, most people havent noticed it's existance.
Unlike OB, you only know you have done a critical hit, by hearing a sound I happen to love, hard to describe it though...But it should be pretty easy to notice the difference.
Oh, and about Yashzamus...Thats the Mehrunes Dagon ruin right? The one with the cages hanging over a pit, a huge indoor step pyramid of sorts and so on? Rogus raided that one a while back, took skill, reflexes, and resources to pull it of...NOT easy.

Yes, I do know that Morrowind has a 'critical hit' feature of course and I noticed it a lot of time; I was just wondering how a low level character could be able of this. But reading better what you wrote, I'm assuming that this feature is completely independant from level or skills values, ok.

Ah, sorry...Misunderstood what you were trying to ask...
Sneak and so on is usefull to achieve a critical hit, but all you need is to remain undetected by your target, which the sneak skill helps you with.
