This is an idea i had installing mods, thinking next to what it would succeed if for some reason i would to uninstall them; it's not really an idea for a "mod", just an idea for a small manual.
Talking about plugins who comes with custom textures / meshes and icons, i noticed that many orf them shares some of their files with other mods; for example, "Solstheim Castle" by Korana shares many Barabus' textures with some Shezrie's houses.
This is due to the fact that Barabus' works are very popular, and therefore used by many modders.
Explaining better: i already have an house from Shezrie, who contains some Barabus' textures. Then, i want to install Solstheim Castle and, copying the textures, the pc prompt to me : "Do you want to overwrite?".
Obviously i reply "yes", but the point is: if the computer is prompting me this, then i will have 2 different mods who will share the same texture files. The same goes with meshes and, sometimes, with the icon files.
So i ask myself: "And if for some reasons i'll uninstall Solstheim Castle? I will lose even the textures needed by Shezrie's house, screwing up this mod???"
Concluding, what i would to do is a complete list (a sort of little manual, or guide, or how do you want to call it) with a full list of the mods who shares files with other mods; of course including a full list about who tells which those icons / meshes / textures files are.
So the player could be prepared and eventually provide a sort of backup by himself, in case he would to uninstall something.
It could be a good idea? Or it just sucks and i'm a poor stupid?
Please post your opinions, even posting your personal list of mods who would to investigate... Eventually telling me where they are available: my HD contains more than 6 GB of Morrowind stuff right now, but maybe i missed something...
Thanks!
