One option *could* be: to create a new NPC by copying a human, then changing the body parts to goblin body parts, and probably removing dialogue entirely. That would work, probably. Try it out and let me know! Aw, definitely where Morrowind was more modder - friendly Oblivion is actually still a challenge for something; but i'm sure that you will find a brilliant solution as usual. Also, i think that a visit at the Tamriel Rebuilt team would be a great idea; since these guys are actually modding for Oblivion as well (and their works are at the state of the art!), their help and suggestions could be crucial. So like in Morrowind, Oblivion creatures can't sleep or eat or drink? I'm not talking about simple undeads like Liches or Skeletons, Goblins seems to me a bit more smarts (like they were in MW Tribunal after all, carrying Durzogs and stuff), so i would be surprised to hear that they still are so limited. But remember, even if you can't order to a Goblin to put ingredients in jars, you can easy found another solution... maybe via inventory? That could work, give it a try and let me know.

It was quite remarkable, really, watching what happens when when the time comes for a goblin to execute a package to eat or sleep.
Goblins have a particular idle animation where basically they occasionally stretch their arms out and yawn.
Beginning at the start time to eat, instead of sitting down and doing an 'eat' animation, the goblin would stay wherever he was and go into and endless loop of yawning for that entire game hour.
Beginning at the start time to sleep, the goblin would actually walk over to the side of the bed! And then... And THEN...
He would slowly stretch out his arms, raise off the floor, and his entire body would begin to glow... brighter and brighter as the seconds passed, until his entire body glowed brilliantly. His head would appear normal. Framerate would gradually diminish significantly as he did this. It was very odd.

Ok, so as in Morrowind, creatures aren't still so advanced as humans... That's a shame, though i think that this will be fixed in the next ES game.

Seems silly to reinvent the wheel but I'm gradually getting the alchemy sorter into shape. I've also got some caged creatures in the basement -- a scamp, a couple imps, a troll, an ogre and a minotaur. Also a deadroth, but he hasn't made an appearance yet in-game ever since I placed the cage over him. (I have a feeling the cage is still a bit too small for him and the game is just removing his reference.) It was a little funny when I first added all the creatures -- I added all of those listed plus about six more (a boar, a skeleton, a couple goblins, etc.). All of them were duplicates of existing creatures, but their aggression was turned OFF. As soon as I entered the cell, all the other animals killed the two goblins. Then everything was peaceful for about a minute. Then they all attacked the big minotaur! That was the end of the hostilities. I guess that was faction hatred in action, even though aggression was turned off.

I hope very much, you took some screenshots from that situation!! ;D
By the way: I am using an older version of your "home" (1.0g). I guess I have to delete (uninstall) it completely before using any new version?

No need to go to special trouble uninstalling, you'll be able to just overwrite it.
I would recommend that you recover anything you have in containers and anything you sold to Novy if it's important to you.
You might like the 1.1a version with the new bathroom.... Tons of little refinements all over the place, too -- hardwooded the floors in bedrooms, foyer, sitting-room, things like that.
Also, I think in your version the portals have somewhat vague destination names, such as Cyrodiil, etc. That happened due to moving all the portals outside of the city walls to provide compatibility with Open Cities. But I have city names on those portals again in the latest version: the portals actually have the city names in them, such as "Anvil portal to...", "Bravil portal to...".

By the way: I am using an older version of your "home" (1.0g). I guess I have to delete (uninstall) it completely before using any new version? To upgrade a mod and savegames, you can follow Intrepid's hints, or use Wrye Bash ; it's the ultimate Oblivion tool, as Wrye Mash it's for Morrowind. And don't worry: contrary to popular belief it won't mess up your game at all (as long as you use it in the right way of course!).

I never sold anything to Novy. Since she is an "expert" to merchandise she gives far lower prices than anyone else. So I will just overwrite!

LOL with Osiris's comments about Novy in the Morrowind home being very non-persuadable, I should have thought to check for this in the Oblivion version! But 1.1a was out already anyway. I'll definitely make adjustments to her stats -- I really just gave her high stats in case some kid decided to whack her for fun. Make them work for it if they're going to do that! But the stats regarding persuasion/bribing/selling didn't need to be that high. Was just thoughtless of me.

Yes: i can understand the reason that has pushed you to make Novy pretty much invulnerable; but (forgive me for this and think about my though as a simple modding suggestion) it's often better to give to an NPC a powerful weapon or spell that nine lives like cats... Since myself The Nerevarine is actually the only invulnerable person in Morrowind! Seriously: doing this, your mod will run seamslessly with the rest of Morrowind, and will not be uber at all. I really don't care much about the kids around here... As an ultimate protection, i just ignore them. Feel free to keep us informed of every progress in your modding plans!

Ah, this house is so awesome!! Today I saw for the first time somebody enter my house by using a portal (it was Ida Vlinorman). She chatted a little with Novy and went to Chorrol. Later she came back and returned to the Imperial City - again using the portals. Now that's entertaining!! I could just sit and watch who will visit me next! ;D Right now my Moon-Elf Nightbird lives there with three friends of the phantastic PartnerMod 1.3. She has a mage, a spellsword and a thief with her, the house is big enough and they are having partys all the time.

I'm glad you like it! Aside from finishing the bathroom, here's one big change for upcoming Home 1.2: I'm incorporating a cooking area in that first floor, to the left by the back door. There's a big four-burner barbecue there already -- four levers to activate each burner individually. I wanted to convey the impression that the BBQ is a little... "scary". So there's a section of burned Kvatch wall embedded behind it that looks like a well-needed stone flameguard of sorts. And a slightly singed tapestry... www.omashu.net/Elderscrolls/Intrepid/Oblivion/Home/4-burner-bbq1.jpgI'm working on setting up the BBQ so that -- just once in a while -- a ball of flame POOFS over the activated grille. ;D There's a letter from "Lelles Quality Mercandise" in Anvil thanking you for your purchase. But you may wish you hadn't read it....
